# How to use Lurker.tv

Lurker.tv enables you to Lurk your whole community! Here is how

To use [Lurker.tv](https://www.lurker.tv/) as usual with your Twitch community you got **some** ways.

But first you need to [create](https://www.twitch.tv/) a **Twitch account** which is named like your community.

Now login with this new created account to [Lurker.tv](https://www.lurker.tv/) and do one of the following methods:

## How do I count as viewer on Twitch with Chrome / Firefox?

There are some things you need to be aware of:

1. The Tab or even better the Windows needs to be visible. So if you use multiple Tabs and [Lurker.tv](https://help.lurker.tv/lurker.tv/www.lurker.tv) is in an inactive tab, it won't count as a viewer.
2. Streams on Lurker.tv needs to be **unmuted\***! To do so, check the Tab for your Browser below

On Firefox click on the **green lock** or **(i)** to get the Window above and switch the Permissions for Audio Content to "**allow**"

## I want to avoid being shown on Lurker.tv ! What can I do?

We understand your decision and for sure enable you to opt-out of the Page.

Please log in to <https://bot.lurker.tv> and Navigate to **User settings**. Here you will find the option `Blacklist yourself from beeing shown on Lurker.tv` which you need to activate.

## Which Player is recommended?

In general, we recommend the **OneByOne** Player as you then always watch the streamer directly on Twitch, which is the best way to ensure you are counted as a viewer.

## Can I have multiple Lurklinks open?

Yes, you can have different Lurklinks open and get points for them, but we highly recommend using the OneByOne player then. Also, please read the next article because if you have two Lurklinks open and do watch 8 streamers, you might **not count** as a viewer on any of them.

It won't help to have the same Lurklink open multiple times! This won't increase your points more than allowed.

## How many Twitch Streams can I watch at once?

It is unclear how many will count. From what we know, you won't count as a viewer any longer for all streams open when you have more than **four** streams open. Duo, this we suggest having at max. four streams open.

## How do points work, and how much do I get?

*You do get **75 points** per 15 minutes for watching Onebyone streams*

## How do I add a streamer to my Discord Link?

You don't! It will automatically put every online streamer with active Streamer Mode from your Discord there.&#x20;

## I am not shown on the Discord Multi-Twitch Link! Why?

There are multiple reasons possible.

#### Streamer Mode

You need to have the [Streamer Mode](https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/218485407-Streamer-Mode-101) **enabled** in Discord to be shown! This also is valid for Console Streamers! They need to have the Streamer Mode **enabled** and linked their Twitch account in their Discord Profile under **Connections** and Discord running.

#### Multi-Twitch is Discord-Role based

It might be that the Multi-Twitch is role based for the Discord you are in. So you would need to be added to the role.&#x20;

#### Discord Bug which sometimes happen

It seems like sometimes the **Game** overwrites the **Streaming** mode. Please disable the game Status in your *Profile* under *Game Activity*.

**Important:** For you it will look like you are streaming and you got the purple bubble! But everyone else including the Bot will not see you as streaming. Let's hope Discord will fix this soon

## What do the ranks mean on the Official Lurker.tv Discord?

Mainly they are there for testing purposes and reflecting your total Lurktime of Lurker.tv since the beginning. So they kind of showing how awesome you are <3

On other Servers which are using the [Rankingsystem ](/discord/lurker.tv+-rankingsystem)they are showing your Monthly Lurktime and will reset on the 1st of each month. Some communities require a special Lurkrank to be shown on the Multi-Twitch or are even rewarding your Lurkness.&#x20;

## Why does the Bot  not give the `lurkrole` to some users?

Maybe minpoints is active, and the user did not yet reach the minimum required points, or it is the 1st of the month when no role changes are done.

## Why are there fewer ranked streamers shown with `/lurktime` as there are people shown on Lurker.tv?

The ranking for `/lurktime` is limited to the current month. Only streamers are shown which linked their Twitch to Discord via `/addtwitch`

## What are Bonus-points, and how do I earn them?

Bonus-points are points you can earn on-top of your Lurk time.&#x20;

You can earn them in these ways:

* Host a Discord Community member which also linked his account
* Chat in a Stream via. [Lurker.tv](https://help.lurker.tv/discord/www.lurker.tv)

## I did not get Bonus points for chatting! What could be the reason?

**There are some reasons when it will not count:**

* You did not Link your Discord and Twitch on Lurker.tv
* The Bot just restarted and needs to rejoin all the channels, which can take a while, duo of rate limits on Twitch end.
* If you just started Lurker.tv and there are new Streams the Bot is not in, yet there will be a delay of around **5–10** seconds until the bot joins and can see you chatting.
* You did not reach the current minimum of **3** messages in **5** minutes, where **1** letter won't count as a message...

**Important hints:**

* Bonus points for chatting are only given for[ lurker.tv/discord/](https://help.lurker.tv/discord/www.lurker.tv/discord) communities.
* There are some really rare cases when we do not get all messages from Twitch, which we do not found out why yet. This is one of the reasons we currently restart the bot every 24h

## How do I use the Lurkrole? How do I assign users to be shown on the lurklink automatically based on a role?

**Options (optional):**

* Define the **minimum points** which are *required* to this role per month!
* Define how many points should be *added* per day to the **minimum required points**
* Define how many days people are ***protected*** from being removed from the role after the lurktime reset on the start of the month.
* Define multiple **additional Lurkroles**. These are **not** affected by the above settings. Usable for example for Staff Members

**Example 1:** You define a **Lurkrole** and **120** minimum points required & **+30** points per day & **2** days protected.

The Bot needs to be in a **higher** role than the **Lurkrole** to have permissions to assign the role to people.

1. **E:** Day **1** of the month: People will require **`120+(30*1)=150`** points to be added! They will **not** removed with less points &#x20;
2. **E:** Day **3** of the month: People will require **`120+(30*3)=210`** points to be added! They will be removed with less points!
3. **E:** Day **10** of the month: People will require **`120+(30*10)=420`** points to be added! They will be removed with less points!

**Example 2:** You **don't** have set a Lurkrole = **All** online streamers in your discord will be shown

**Example3:** You have set a Lurkrole but not minimum points = You can add people by your own to the lurkrole. None will be added/removed automatically


# Live role

This function will give the Twitch on Mixer Streamers a LIVE role on your Discord

In the [Dashboard ](http://dashboard.lurker.tv)you can go to your Server Settings and choose a custom role which "all" Streaming Twitch members will get.

If you have a special Lurk-role specified for your Server only these members will be shown in your custom LIVE role.

* **`/lurktop10 <day/month/total>`** shows the Top10 lurkers of your Discord. If you use it like `/lurktop10 month 06` it will show you the ranks of this specific month.

The Lurker.tv Ranking system will give your Discord the possibility to give your users a certain rank on your discord and more.

## 1st step - Get the Discordbot

## **2nd step - Purchase the Feature and contact LurkerTV Staff**

After you purchased the Patron Tier, please contact LurkerTV Staff at their [Discord](https://discord.lurker.tv) and tell them your Server name

## 3rd step - Configure the roles

* Go to [bot.lurker.tv](https://bot.lurker.tv) choose your Server
* Navigate to the **Lurker+ Settings** which should now be unlocked
* Fill out all 5 roles under the Ranking System settings

# How does the Ranking work?

Your Server unblocked the Ranking System and you wonder how it works? Here you can read how it works.

The rankings are based on the **monthly** watch time and will reset on the 1st of each month.&#x20;

These ranks are given to all lurkers! All ranks are rewarded from the 1st day of the month. This means that even on the 1st there will be GRAND LURKERS but might lose the role fast again.

It is always a fixed percentage about how many lurkers can have a specific role which can cause people to get demoted. I will show the percentages with example Rank names below:

* GRAND LURKERS - top 2%
* CHAMPION LURKERS - top 3-7%
* GOLD LURKERS - top 8-22%
* SILVER LURKERS - top 23-50%&#x20;
* BRONZE LURKERS - everything below with at least 1 point

It could cause multiple promotioned / demotions if the following happens:

1. A lot of people leave a server because this will shrink the pool of ranked people
2. A lot op people start using lurker.tv on your lurklink which will increase the pool of ranked people.
